Healing

Breaking free of white supremacy via training and formation.

There’s more to the story than you may know. Here are some resources to learn about Antiracism, Racial Justice, and Oppression. Have additional resources to recommend? Please share your notes with Vestry Communications Liaison Deane Gordon ([email protected]) or any other Vestry member.

Training

Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing
Dismantling Racism training seeks to increase “racial understanding, healing and reconciliation.” It is offered several times throughout the year and is required for all parish clergy and all lay leaders, including vestry members. Training are offered by the Absalom Jones Center for Racial Healing.

Sacred Ground
Sacred Ground is a sensitive, prayerful resource that creates space for difficult but respectful and transformative dialogue on race and racism.
It invites participants to walk back through history in order to peel away the layers that brought us to today, reflecting on family histories and stories, as well as important narratives that shape the collective American story.
It holds as a guiding star the vision of beloved community – where all people are honored and protected and nurtured as beloved children of God, where we weep at one another’s pain and seek one another’s flourishing.

Comfortable Conversations

Our virtual Wednesday evening faith formation series will focus on civil discourse, using the course “Make Me an Instrument of Peace” designed by the Episcopal Church’s Office of Government Relations and recommended by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry. Together we’ll explore strategies that help us bridge the divides that keep us from moving forward. Here’s the Zoom link to join at 7 pm on Wednesdays.
